The Climate Smart Research project is committed to the protection of your personal data and respects your privacy on its website on the www.climatesmartresearch.eu domain. This privacy policy on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data is based on principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

You, as a user without registration credentials, can browse through most of this website’s functionalities without giving any personal data. In certain cases though, your personal data may be required if you decide to subscribe to the official project newsletter, or if you fill the contact form in order to get in contact with the project representatives.

Type of personal data we collect

To have a fully functional website and to enable project objectives to be reached, we store certain users data for the following purposes:

  • Sign up for project’s newsletter through form at the website
  • Application for project events as a guest

Analytics

Website analytic tools are the corporate services that measures the effectiveness and efficiency of the Climate Smart Research website, by providing information to the website administrators, and to project Consortium about how end-users use the project website, how often, for how long, which webpages and functionalities are most frequently visited, etc.

Information collected about the user engagement, and provided to the website administrators and project Consortium, are anonymous, meaning that information about the users like: time of visit, duration of visit, pages visited, etc., are not connected with user names, surnames, email addresses or any other personal data.

IP address and device ID

When you access a Climate Smart Research website, as an essential technical requirement the servers can store your Internet Protocol address (IP address) or the device ID of the device used to access the website.

Without this information, you will not be able to establish a technical connection between your devices and the server infrastructure maintained by the website administrators and therefore will not be able to access the Climate Smart Research website.

Safeguarding information

To ensure that website data remain safe, everything is hosted at BioSense Institute (BIOS) owned Data Center. As most others, BioSense Data Center has backup power supply in case of electricity power cuts supported by UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and power aggregates, fire protection system and protected physical access to the server space, accessible only by authorized BioSense Institute employees.

Virtual access to the database and servers is possible only via SSH client (Secure Shell) network communication protocol that enables two computers to communicate. Access is possible only from specific web addresses while authentication is done by SSH keys.

Communication between web browser and servers for the website domain is done exclusively by HTTPS protocols (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure), with Let’s Encrypt TLS (Transport Layer Security) Certificate. TLS is an authentication and security protocol widely implemented in browsers and Web servers, while Let’s Encript is a free, open certificate authority provided by ISRG (Internet Security Research Group).

The Climate Smart Research project will keep the personal data of the users for the period necessary for the accomplishment of the purposes for which they were collected.

Other data recipients

The personal data of the user may be communicated to a suitable service provider contracted by the Climate Smart Research project, which will treat the data exclusively for the purposes established by the Climate Smart Research project and in compliance with the instructions issued by the Climate Smart Research project, strictly complying with the legal rules on data protection information security and other applicable standards, pursuant to a written agreement between the parties.

Except contractual agreements, Climate Smart Research project will only share the collected information with third parties when legally required to do so.
Climate Smart Research project ​​will process user data in its entirety within the territory of the European Economic Area (EEA) and therefore does not provide for any international transfer of data.

Your rights as a data subject

If any of your personal data is given and collected by the website, you have the right to obtain access to the personal data held by the Climate Smart Research about you and to request its rectification or erasure, or restriction of processing or, where applicable, the right to object to processing or the right to data portability.
