Description
The Aliartos Farm is the AUA Experimental Research Station in Aliartos, in the Boeotia regional unit, where field-based research on climate-smart and sustainable agriculture under Mediterranean conditions is conducted.
The station hosts irrigated arable cropping systems with experimental plots where fertilization strategies are being tested, soil health and biodiversity evaluation is conducted, and precision farming practices are applied. Its work aims to generate robust methodologies and monitoring information to support evidence-based mitigation and adaptation solutions.
Characteristics
The ERS Aliartos Farm is representative of Mediterranean irrigated arable systems. Its mission is related to applied research supporting climate-resilient farming through the testing and demonstration of sustainable practices such as optimized fertilization, improved soil health, and biodiversity management.
The main focus of the station is that it emphasizes in smart solutions and precision agriculture with practical, field-oriented experimentation that generates data, indicators, and strategies directly transferable to farmers, advisors, and the wider research community.
