Description
ANIMBIO group the IBNA’s facilities for feeding trials on various species and categories of farm animals – poultry, swine, ruminants. This comprises a multispecies livestock farm, spaces for physiology of nutrition experiments, a vegetal farm of 200 ha arable land as well equipment specific to research on livestock.
The numbers of animals vary upon experimental needs / ongoing projects.
Characteristics
The current research projects are oriented toward reaching through nutrition various objectives that are relevant for livestock production: efficiency / competitiveness, valorisation of the local feedstuffs (e.g. drought-resistant plants) / feed ingredients containing active substances, better quality of animal products, lowering environmental footprint (e.g. feeding strategies for better nitrogen efficiency or rumen fermentations generating less methane).
Collected data usually comprises feeds consumption, milk production, rumen VFA, rumen pH & ammonia, etc. In Romania, ANIMBIO collaborates with a network of innovative farms and the main farmers / producers’ associations for maximizing its knowledge and technology transfer.
