Description
The Šašinovec Experimental Station manages 76.8 ha of arable land with diverse continental cropping systems, including cereals, maize, soybean, and forage legumes. It supports scientific research, seed production, and experimental plots for testing cultivars, as well as soil and crop management practices.
Within CSR, the station provides representative field conditions for validating climate-smart farming tools and assessing the impacts of tillage, cover crops, mulching, and other soil management strategies. The ERS also serves as an educational platform for students and researchers.
Characteristics
Šašinovec ERS is characterised by long-term field experimentation, certified seed production, and intensive crop research under continental climatic conditions. Its mission is to support sustainable crop production by testing new cultivars, evaluating innovative soil and crop management practices, and providing reliable field data for science and teaching.
The ERS integrates applied research with practical farm operations, focusing on soil health, resilience to climate variability, and the adoption of climate-smart and regenerative practices. It serves as a bridge between scientific innovation, agricultural education, and real-world farming challenges.
